This client was looking for a rifle specifically designed for mountain elk hunting—light enough to carry comfortably over long distances while still providing the accuracy and terminal performance necessary for ethical shot placement at extended hunting ranges.
We began with a consultation focused on developing his “Ultimate Hunting Rifle.” His priorities were clear: a lightweight platform, manageable recoil, exceptional accuracy, and a cartridge capable of delivering dependable downrange performance on elk.
After evaluating his needs, the client selected the highly efficient .280 Ackley Improved. The components below were carefully selected to complement one another and create a balanced, lightweight hunting system without compromising precision, shootability, or field performance.
The result is, in my opinion, one heck of a mountain hunting rifle.

6.5 Creedmoor-Purpose Built Long-Range Precision Rifle
This client came to us looking for a purpose-built precision rifle capable of delivering consistent, repeatable performance at 1,000 yards and beyond. The goal wasn’t simply to build a rifle capable of reaching those distances—it was to create a complete system designed around accuracy, consistency, and confidence behind the rifle.
We began with a consultation focused on how the rifle would be used and what characteristics mattered most. His priorities were clear: precision, repeatability, recoil management, and long-range capability.
From there, every component was selected to complement the rifle as a complete system. A Lone Peak Arms Fuzion action provides the foundation, paired with a 24-inch Proof Research Competition Contour barrel. The MDT XRS chassis provides a stable and adjustable shooting platform, while the TriggerTech Diamond delivers the crisp, predictable trigger pull expected from a dedicated precision rifle.
An APA Fat Bastard muzzle brake helps manage recoil and allows the shooter to stay on target, while the Vortex Viper PST 6-24x50 and Seekins Precision rings complete the optics package.

6.5 PRC Hunting Rifle
This client came to us looking for a budget-friendly hunting rifle capable of handling a variety of North American game. His priorities were straightforward: a lightweight, maneuverable platform with manageable recoil, dependable accuracy, and enough downrange performance to give him versatility in the field.
We began by selecting the 6.5 PRC, a cartridge that provides an excellent combination of velocity, efficiency, and downrange capability without the recoil of larger magnum cartridges.
From there, we evaluated several production hunting rifles and ultimately selected the Bergara B-14. Its 20-inch barrel keeps the rifle compact and maneuverable while providing the performance the client was looking for in a lightweight hunting package.
To complete the system, we paired the rifle with an EGW scope base, Warne rings, and a Leupold VX-Freedom 4-12x40. An Area 419 Hellfire Match muzzle brake was added to help manage recoil and make the lightweight rifle even more comfortable to shoot.
The result is a clean, practical hunting setup that stayed within the client's budget without sacrificing the features that mattered most.
And most importantly—it’s a shooter.

Custom-Built Precision AR-15
This client came to us looking for a custom-built AR-15 that delivered more than the typical off-the-shelf platform. The goal was to create a rifle centered around precision and consistency while maintaining the reliability, adjustability, and versatility that make the AR-15 platform so capable.
We began by selecting a Rogue Ops billet receiver set to provide a solid foundation for the build. From there, a Criterion barrel was chosen as the heart of the rifle, providing the accuracy and consistency we were looking for in a purpose-built precision AR.
A Bravo BCG completes the operating system, while a TriggerTech Diamond flat trigger provides a crisp, predictable break to help the shooter take advantage of the rifle’s accuracy potential. To further improve shootability, an Ultradyne Apollo Max muzzle brake was added to reduce recoil and muzzle movement, making it easier to stay on target and spot impacts.
An adjustable buttstock completes the package, allowing the rifle to be configured to the individual shooter and providing a stable, comfortable position behind the gun.
The result is an AR-15 built around a simple objective: combine the versatility of the AR platform with the precision and attention to detail expected from a custom rifle.
