6.5 Creedmoor (Cutting Edge 125 gr. Maximus)

The client’s primary objective was to select a projectile designed to deliver maximum terminal performance. During our consultation, the client identified a maximum effective hunting range of approximately 150 yards and expressed a preference for minimizing recoil in his lightweight hunting rifle.

Based on these requirements, we selected the following components and established a target velocity of approximately 2,600 fps, with the goal of identifying an accuracy node that provided an optimal balance of terminal performance, recoil management, and precision.

Brass: Lapua Small Rifle Primer

Powder: Hodgdon H4350

Primer: Federal Gold Medal Match SR

Projectile: Cutting Edge Maximus 125 gr.

280 Ackley Improved (Nosler Accubond 160 gr.)

The client’s primary objective was to select a projectile capable of delivering reliable terminal performance on big game. During our consultation, the client identified an effective hunting range of approximately 350–400 yards, and the need to use temperature variability as a factor in our development process.

Based on these requirements, we selected the following components and established a target velocity of approximately 3,000 fps. Our goal was to identify an accuracy node that provided an optimal balance of terminal performance and precision while being able to repeat the POI across various temperatures for the client’s intended hunting application.

Brass: Peterson

Powder: Hodgdon H4831SC

Primer: Federal Match Large Rifle Magnum

Bullet: Nosler Accubond 160 gr.
